Why These Spots Stand Out
How I Spend a Perfect Sunday in Ottawa
Sundays are my chance to recharge, slow down, and spend time doing things I love most in the City. Ottawa has such a wonderful mix of cozy cafés, breathtaking nature, and delicious food — it’s the perfect backdrop for a day of balance. Here’s what a typical Sunday looks like for me.
Morning: Coffee Close to Home
I like to start my Sundays slowly, usually with a coffee in hand. One of my go-to spots is Tartelette Café, where I’ll grab a warm latte and one of their tasty breakfast sandwiches. It’s close to home, making it the ideal spot to kick off the day with something simple yet satisfying. With coffee in hand, I’ll either ease into the morning with a bit of reading or head outside for a quiet walk to soak in the fresh air.
Afternoon: Exploring Nature or Local Gems
Sunday afternoons are made for exploring, and Ottawa has no shortage of beautiful places to discover. One of my absolute favourite spots is Gatineau Park. The trails there are stunning year-round, but my personal favourite is Pink Lake Trail — it’s the perfect mix of peaceful forest paths and breathtaking views.
If I’m looking for something closer to the city, I love wandering around Major’s Hill Park. It’s such a classic Ottawa spot, with its sweeping views of Parliament and the river, and it’s a lovely way to spend a relaxed afternoon without going too far from downtown.
Evening: A Cozy Dinner in Orleans
To end the day, I usually head to one of my favourite dinner spots. One that is quite high on my list is Chop Chop Thai in Orleans. It’s one of my favourite local gems, and their green curry is the ultimate comfort food. The flavours are rich, cozy, and just the thing to wrap up a Sunday on a delicious note.
Why I Love Sundays in Ottawa
No matter what, my Sundays always strike a balance between relaxation and adventure. Whether it’s coffee at Tartelette, a hike through Gatineau Park, or green curry at Chop Chop Thai, the city offers endless ways to enjoy the day. It’s these little rituals and favourite spots that make Ottawa feel like home — and why I look forward to Sundays all week long.
