Why This Spot Stands Out

There is something truly special about a restaurant that carries the heartbeat of a community within its walls. For over three decades, Siam Bistro was that place for so many of us in Ottawa—a reliable, family-run gem that felt like a second home. When I heard that the legacy of Siam Bistro was evolving into a brand-new chapter called Lotus of Siam at 925 Bank St, I immediately added it to the very top of my “must-visit” list. It’s not just about a new sign on a building; it’s about the anticipation of seeing a beloved local tradition grow into something fresh and exciting right in the heart of the Glebe. I haven’t stepped inside just yet, but it’s definitely high on my priority list!

About Lotus of Siam

Lotus of Siam is the highly anticipated evolution of a local culinary institution. Located in the vibrant Glebe neighborhood of Ottawa, this restaurant builds upon the thirty-year legacy of the original Siam Bistro. It represents a sophisticated blend of traditional Thai flavors and modern dining, bringing a renewed energy to Bank Street. With a deep commitment to authentic techniques and a family-oriented approach to hospitality, Lotus of Siam aims to be a cornerstone of the Ottawa food scene, offering a space where long-time fans and new explorers alike can gather over exceptional Thai cuisine.

The Experience

Walking past 925 Bank St lately, you can’t help but feel the excitement building. While I am still waiting for that perfect night to finally sit down and experience the full service, the story behind the restaurant already paints a vivid picture. Imagine a space that honors thirty years of family history while embracing a polished, contemporary vibe.  It’s that rare kind of anticipation where you just know the atmosphere will be a perfect mix of nostalgic warmth and modern elegance.

Why You Should Go

  • A Multi-Generational Legacy: This isn’t just a new business; it’s a continuation of the Siam Bistro story, a family-run staple that served our community for more than 30 years.

  • Expert Craftsmanship: The kitchen is led by a chef with over 30 years of experience in Thai cooking, ensuring that every plate is backed by decades of mastery and tradition.

  • Fresh Monthly Specials: One of the most exciting features is the promise of different specials every single month, giving you a reason to come back again and again to see what’s new.

  • Prime Glebe Location: Situated right on Bank Street, it is the perfect anchor for a night out in one of Ottawa’s most iconic and walkable neighborhoods.

  • Deep Community Roots: Supporting Lotus of Siam means supporting a business that has been an integral part of the Ottawa fabric for a generation.

The Must-Try Dish

Even though I’m still dreaming about my first visit, I already know exactly what is going to be on my table the moment I sit down. I am absolutely dying to try their Green Mango Salad and the Green Curry. There is something about a Green Mango Salad that acts as the ultimate test of a Thai kitchen—that perfect balance of tart, sweet, and spicy is hard to master, but with 30 years of experience in the kitchen, I have high hopes it will be spectacular. And the Green Curry? It’s the ultimate comfort food. I can already imagine that rich, fragrant coconut milk base and the kick of fresh green chilies. These are the classics that remind you why Thai food is so beloved, and I can’t wait to see how this seasoned team brings them to life in their new home.

Lotus of Siam is proof that the best things in life—and in food—often come from deep roots and a lot of heart. By combining thirty years of family history with a fresh new vision in the Glebe, they are creating a dining experience that Ottawa has been waiting for. Whether you were a regular at the old Siam Bistro or you’re a newcomer looking for your next favorite Thai spot, this is a restaurant that deserves a spot on your calendar. Don’t wait as long as I have—head down to 925 Bank St and welcome this local legend to the neighborhood!
