Why This Spot Stands Out

Kawartha Dairy Is Now in Ottawa!

Exciting news for ice cream lovers in the capital — Kawartha Dairy has officially opened a location right here in Ottawa! Known for its rich, creamy ice cream and proudly Canadian roots, this beloved brand is bringing a taste of cottage country to the city.

A Proud Canadian Legacy

Kawartha Dairy is a 100% Canadian-owned company that’s been operated by the same family since its founding in 1937. Headquartered in Bobcaygeon, Ontario, the dairy has a long-standing tradition of quality and community.

It all began when Jack and Ila Crowe purchased a small dairy in Bobcaygeon. Jack, who had learned the trade while working for Oshawa Dairy, took a leap of faith and began running what would soon become Kawartha Dairy. At the time, the facility was a modest, three-room building — the cold storage was even cooled with ice cut from the lake!

Growth and Ice Cream Expertise

In the mid-1950s, Jack Crowe went back to school to learn the art of ice cream making — and the rest is history. What began as a small-town dairy has grown into a celebrated brand with 14 retail stores and a wide network of wholesale partners, including retail outlets, food service businesses, and ice cream parlours across Ontario.

While ice cream is what they’re best known for, Kawartha Dairy also produces milk, cream, and other high-quality dairy products.

A Taste of Kawartha in the Capital

This summer, Kawartha Dairy officially expanded to Ottawa with a brand new shop on Carling Avenue! Whether you’re a long-time fan or new to the brand, you can now enjoy their delicious ice cream and other products without leaving the city.
